LONG-STANDING city shop Baby Talk is soon to close its doors after 26 years in business.

The store located on North Street, Chichester, has been running since 1989, successfully selling a variety of baby clothing and toys to the surrounding community.

Despite having to battle through tough economic times, owner Susan Lee, 55, has managed to keep the business alive for a number of years, however she has now chosen to close her shop on a high on September 19.

She said: “My lease is coming to an end in September and I have decided not to renew it for another length of term so I can stop and move on to something a little less stressful than running a business.

“I’m going to have a bit of a rest after the shop has closed down, have a holiday and make future plans later on.”

Nearby shop Present Days will be stocking many items from the closing-down store, so Baby Talk customers can still find the baby gifts and accessories in Chichester.

“There may a be a possibility of opening a new business in the future, but for now I just want to take a break from it all and enjoy the quiet life,” she said.

“The highlight for me has to be seeing the generations of a family coming into my shop. I’ve had three generations pass through my doors in my 26 years of running Baby Talk, it’s been lovely.

“I just want to thank all the customers that have supported me – I’ve had so many good wishes over the last few weeks and such lovely comments.”

Baby Talk is holding a closing-down sale which will continue until the final day, Saturday, September 19.
