TWO students from Chichester College had the chance to put their skills into practice when they helped a church which had been vandalised.

George Morely, 21, and Alex Barnes, 18, both completed a course in lead at the college and used the skills they learned to replace metal stolen from the roof of Bramber Parish Church by vandals this year.

George, of Emsworth, and Alex, who lives in Chichester, travelled to the church near Steyning with their course lecturer Garry Butcher to replace the leadwork, with all material, time and labour given to the church for free.

George has worked as a roofer with his father for around five years, while Alex has just started the lead module of his plumbing course.

Garry said the trio were ‘so pleased’ to have been able to lend a hand.
