SCHOOLCHILDREN are learning to save their pennies, thanks to a special scheme.
Pupils from five primary schools have been taking part in a new project to encourage them to fill up their piggybanks, organised by West Sussex Credit Union.
Tangmere Academy, Seal Primary Academy, Kingsham Primary School, Central C of E Junior School and Parklands Community Primary School have all been taking part.
Since February this year, children have all started their own Junior Savers accounts. Each week they bring in pocket money, or money they have earned at home doing jobs, to save.
The deposits are paid into secure savings accounts with the Credit Union, which youngsters can monitor online.
The whole project has been supported by Hyde Martlet, Chichester District Council and the Stop Loan Sharks campaign.
