INSPIRED by the street art festival which has transformed the walls of the city, clients with learning difficulties from the Apuldram Centre have decided to start their own project.

Each brick on one wall of the centre has been painted in with a different motif to create an Apuldram masterpiece.

Sally Milligan, community outreach instructor, said: “It has been a fantastic and wonderful thing to watch the clients enjoying themselves in this way. Other clients from the centre have been intrigued with the goings on and one by one have come and joined in to add a section to the mural.

“Visitors, volunteers and staff have been watching with interest as the project has developed.

“It has been an amazing freedom of expression particularly for one of our clients Jason Ireland, who attends the Pallant House art group.

“He sold one of his pictures in the Outside In Exhibition which toured the UK. We always felt that paper was not quite big enough for Jason and for him to have a chance to express himself in such a big way is amazing.

“Jason’s art work
has become a performance art piece as we do not quite know what he is going to do next but he is thoroughly enjoying himself and it is a delight to see.”

The street art project can still be seen at the Apuldram Centre.
