CHICHESTER College has proved it is a cut above the rest after becoming the first college in the country to have its very own barbershop.

‘The Barbershop’, housed in the old Student Union office, is the latest addition to the colleges’ customer-facing services and will give valuable experience to Barbering students.

Mike Taylor, the first barber in the UK to be named ‘master barber craftsman’ by the Hair Council,
gave a series of master-classes to the students at the shop in the run-up to its grand opening.

He said: “Chichester is a great college and I’m really glad to be here again.

“It is the first college I have seen that has its very own, purpose-built
barbershop on its premises, specifically to help train
the barbers of tomorrow.”

He gave six demonstrations on different styles and shared his industry knowledge with them.

“More and more students are deciding to take up
barbering but for most who train having their own space is non-existent, so it is
fantastic to see that a college that has it very own space dedicated to it”.
