Heroes of the region will be saluted at the Observer’s annual Community Awards – and we need YOU to cast your votes!
It is time for our readers to decide who they think should be crowned the winners in our awards for the amazing work they do in their roles as pillars of support in the community.
All nomination and voting details are in the 12-page supplement in today’s Observer (Thursday, November 15, edition).
Held this year in association with Goodwood-based Rolls-Royce, the awards are a chance to recognise our unsung heroes, the people who deserve special recognition for the valuable and tireless contribution to the wider community.
A whole host of inspiring and heart-rending stories of real community spirit are discovered through the nominations made.
From clubs and societies to the arts and charities, we have a whole host of nominees of a variety of ages who have been recognised for going that extra mile and for doing something particularly special.
Observer editor Colin Channon said: “The awards are one of my favourite events during the year. Each year we hear about some amazing people, their achievements, the time they give to helping others and the extra mile people go to make other people’s lives better.
“It is always good to be able to recognise this work in public and I am very much looking forward to attending the awards evening.”
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, December 17, at the Butlin’s resort in Bognor Regis, time to be confirmed, and all nominees and the people who have nominated them will be invited.
Alongside our main awards, the Observer panel will also be awarding a special prize: the Observer Award for Special Achievement.
The prize will be decided by the editor and a special panel at the Observer.
Regional television presenter Fred Dinenage will lead the prestigious evening, where our community heroes are acknowledged for their impressive contributions .
All are welcome to attend what is set to be an evening to remember, and we look forward to celebrating with you there.
Anyone who would like tickets, which are free, should call our community awards team on 01243 534147.
