A TRACTOR has surprised pupils at Compton and Up Marden CE Primary School – after it turned up in the middle of their PE lesson.
The surprise had been arranged by their class teacher Catherine Shave in conjunction with local famer and parent Mr Millington.
The five to seven-year-olds have been learning about the farming year as part of their topic ‘field to fork’.
“They have been to visit a local farm and have been studying the crops grown around the perimeter of the school, but having a tractor pull up on to their playground had a real wow factor” said headteacher Claire Inskip.
“All the children were able to sit in the tractor and ask Mr Millington questions.
“At Compton and Up Marden we believe passionately that children learn best through firsthand experiences.
“We feel it is important that the children have an understanding of where their food comes from and the processes and people involved.”
