THE words ‘no entry’ and a one-way sign at the entrance to North Walls have been causing some confusion.
Resident Keith Hood said his daughter almost got run over after a lorry started to turn into the road. “Like many of us, we don’t expect to see vehicles turning into North Walls from that direction,” he said.
West Sussex County Council said the sign was part of the traffic management affecting North Walls resulting from work being carried out on the pedestrian improvement scheme in Tower Street, and that its highways department had not received any complaints.
A WSCC spokeswoman said the road closures and diversion routes were due to be removed by the end of yesterday.
“The closure layout and diversion that is in place now is the same as was used during aspects of the museum construction. The ‘no entry’ road sign was replaced with a one-way arrow and the road marking was left in place. A temporary diversion sign is in place directing people the ‘wrong way’ up the no entry road.”
