FRIENDS and neighbours in Summersdale came together to celebrate the Queen’s coronation.

Following the success of last year’s celebration to mark the diamond jubilee in The Avenue, Summersdale, residents decided to hold another street party on Sunday (June 2) to mark the 60th anniversary of her majesty’s coronation.

Around 80 adults and children gathered for the celebration, with the weather once again at its best.

“The children loved the freedom of being able to play in the road on skate boards, cycles and peddle cars, the road surface was also made use of as a canvas for chalk drawings, our very own street art,” said Angela Boyce.

Party-goers were also entertained with a quiz, games and a selection of dance reels.

Everyone took along food which was arranged in a small marquee in the front garden of one of the resident’s houses.

The day concluded with a toast to the Queen and a cake decorated with a crown and ER 60 was cut to mark the occasion.
