A drink driver was caught after he crashed his car while fiddling with his radio.
Russell Mitchell, 23, was arrested after he crashed into another car in Oving Road, Chichester, while twice the drink-drive limit on December 28.
The 23-year-old had drunk a bottle of wine that afternoon before getting behind the wheel. He had been trying to adjust his car radio when he crashed his Peugeot 307 into a parked Honda Jazz at 7.10pm.
Mitchell, of St Nicholas Road, Lavant, pleaded guilty to drink-driving and driving without insurance when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 8.
He was banned from driving for 20 months, fined £320 and told to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Mitchell was one of those caught as part of Sussex Police’s Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-driving.
A total of 27 people have so far been convicted of offences as part of the December campaign.
