Appeal after assault on young girl in Chichester park

Police are appealing for information after a common assault on a girl in Florence Park, Chichester.

The assault took place on Tuesday, April 24 at around 9pm.

The girl, aged 13, was in the park on her own when she was approached by a man near the public toilets.

She told police he grabbed her arm and briefly spoke to her before she ran away.

Sergeant Alan Fenn from Chichester Neighbourhood Police Team said: “This was a distressing experience for the young girl and fortunately she did not come to any further harm.

“It appears to be an isolated incident but none-the-less officers are continuing with house-to-house enquiries and have been patrolling the park area.”

The suspect is described as tall and was wearing a dark hooded top, white trainers and spoke with a local accent.
