Assault on security guard at Chichester shop

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a security guard at Boots in North Street, Chichester on Thursday, October 6.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of assault, but enquiries are ongoing, a police spokesperson said.

According to police, the victim was trying to detain three suspects for a theft from Boots when the assault took place at 2pm.

The security officer received minor injuries during the assault, police added.

A 40-year-old man from West Drayton, Greater London, and a 18-year-old man of no fixed address have both been arrested on suspicion of assault, theft and resisting arrest.

A 31-year-old woman from Uxbridge, Hillingdon, London, was arrested on suspicion of theft and resisting arrest.

All three suspects have been released on bail until November 2.
