Chichester Police appeal to witnesses of a serious collision on A259 between one of its cars and a teenage driver

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a road collision involving one of its vehicles on the A259 at Fishbourne, in which a driver was seriously injured.

The incident happened on the A259 at Fishbourne Saturday, November 19 at 6pm in which a 17-year-old girl from the Chichester area driving a black Peugeot 206 suffered significant injuries.

Her vehicle had been in collision with the marked blue Ford Focus responding to an emergency call. The injured girl was taken by ambulance to hospital, where she was reported as being in a serious but stable condition.

One of her passengers, a 16 year-old girl from Chichester also suffered minor injuries, as did the 29-year-old male officer driving the police car.

The incident has now been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) which will investigate circumstances surrounding the collision.
