The attack took place in the morning of July 30, after the victim who is in her 80s had been shopping at the Saturday market in the city.

Detective Constable Andrea Watts of West Sussex CID said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victim, however she did not report it to police until some days later when she told a nurse what had happened.

“It appears that the victim was reluctant to inform police because she didn’t want to bother officers but it is important that any victim of crime informs police so that we can bring offenders to justice.”
