A MAN arrested last year in Selsey for possessing child porn has been given a community order.

David Ward, 38, of Canute Road, Southampton, was arrested at his Selsey address in August last year.

“When he was doing his interview, the defendant said he has been looking for pictures of adult males,” said Gail Purdy, prosecuting.

“The images that had been found were found on his laptop.”

She also said some of the pictures on his laptop and memory stick were level four images – the most serious being level five.

His laptop computer was seized for examination.

Ward appeared for sentence at Brighton Crown Court on Monday, after pleading guilty to possessing indecent pictures of children.

Jonathan Edwards, defending, said: “Mr Ward lost his job as a result of those charges. He was for a time homeless and he had to borrow money from a family friend.”

Ward was ordered to spend 35 hours attending a sex offence group work project in Southampton. He was also ordered to pay £500 costs.
