Man could lose eyesight after Arundel assault

A man could lose the sight in one of his eyes after being assaulted at a bar in Arundel.

Police are appealing for information after the incident at Jazzmin’s Wine Bar, in High Street, on Saturday (May 28) at 10.50pm.

The 21-year-old victim was taken to hospital suffering from a serious eye injury after the assault.

He had just left the toilet area and was going outside via the conservatory to have a cigarette when he was attacked.

A 24-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been bailed until July 5 pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Mark Gowling of West Sussex CID said: “This was a nasty assault and it is possible that the victim may lose sight in one of his eyes.

“I would ask that anyone who witnessed the assault, or who has information which may assist police, gets in contact.”
