BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) detectives are appealing for information after a man exposed himself and performed an indecent act in front of two schoolgirls.
Officers have today (Thursday, October 18) released details of the incident which took place between 1.30pm and 2pm on Saturday, September 8.
Detective Constable Tony Bronger, the investigating officer, is asking for anyone with information to come forward.
“The two 14-year-old girls who boarded the train at Gatwick Airport, noticed a man get on at Worthing station and take a seat across the aisle to them,” he said.
“A short while later they realised that the man was exposing himself and performing an indecent act whilst looking at them.
“We believe the man left the train at Emsworth station.”
Officers have carried out a number of enquiries in order to establish the identity of the man, including speaking to witnesses and circulating images on police intelligence systems, but to no avail.
“The incident took place on a busy train service so we believe witnesses may have information that could help our investigation,” said DC Bronger.
“The man’s actions were completely unacceptable and understandably the incident left the victims upset and distressed.
“If you have any information about the incident, however small, we would really like to speak to you.”
