A BURGLAR stole valued medals from a 95-year-old woman in Chichester on Wednesday (November 28).
The woman returned to her home in Birdham Road, Stockbridge, around 2pm and found a man in the address.
He fled, taking the medals with him.
The burglar is described as being white, around 20 years of age and of slim build.
The stolen items include two Royal Academy of Music medals, dated about 1940, both embossed with the name ‘WINIFRED LILLEY’ across the front.
One is silver and one is bronze, and therefore very identifiable.
Also stolen was a set of silver fish knives and a small silver candle stick holder.
Detective Constable Jon Tizzard said; “This was a very distressing experience for the victim, who was shaken though thankfully unhurt.
“We are appealing for witnesses to the burglary and information about the whereabouts of the stolen property.
“The medals in particular hold great sentimental value for her.
