Two police constables - one from Horsham district, the other from Arun - have been suspended by Sussex Police.

A statement from the force said they were suspended on Friday December 11 ‘following the discovery of discrepancies in statements they had provided’.

The apparent discrepancies were found during an internal audit and the men, aged 25 and 32, are now being investigated for gross misconduct.

Superintendent Lisa Bell, Head of the professional standards department, said: “Sussex Police and the public expect the highest personal and professional standards from anyone who works for us.

“The police constables, both response officers, have been suspended while we carry out an internal investigation.”
