A burglar made off with several thousand pounds after an early morning raid on offices at Chichester bus station, police have confirmed.

Police said the suspect gained access to the building shortly after 2.30am on Monday July 25.

CCTV footage shows someone arriving by bicycle, parking it among the buses and then making their way to the room where the safe was.

After removing the money, the person collected the bicycle and made off along the footpath next to the railway, turning left over the level crossing.

The suspect is described as wearing a high-visibility jacket, a bright blue hooded top with the hood pulled over their face and black gloves. The money was removed in two grey G4S bags with the bus station details stamped on.

Two CCTV photos have been issued by police. The first shows the suspect in the office where the money was stolen and the second shows a cyclist, who it is thought may be the suspect, riding away from the scene at the time.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the burglary or who has any information about it, is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 129 of 25/07.
