Witnesses sought to taxi driver attack in Chichester

A taxi driver was punched and kicked and robbed of cash by two passengers in the early hours of Sunday, October 16.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place in Melbourne Road in Chichester at 3.35am.

The 43-year-old driver man had picked up a group of people, two women and three men from outside Thursdays nightclub in Chichester.

One of the women and a man asked to be dropped at a cash point at Sainsburys and then the other woman got out in Melbourne Road.

The taxi driver was then punched and kicked and robbed of cash by one of the men who got out of the taxi. The other men then ran off.

Police would particularly like to identify the two women passengers in the taxi. The woman who got out at the cash point is described as white, aged 25 to 30, of medium to fat build, with short grey hair and was wearing a black blouse and short white skirt.

The other woman who got out in Melbourne Road is described as white, aged 25 to 30, 5’ 6’, of medium build and wearing a black skirt.
