Young woman assaulted in Selsey

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was assaulted while walking home in Selsey.

Sometime between 11pm and midnight on Monday, July 9, the 20-year-old woman was walking along Church Road when she was accosted by an unknown man who grabbed hold of her left arm.

After a brief struggle she broke free and the man disappeared. She had minor bruising injuries although she was left badly shaken by the incident.

The man was described as white, with scruffy hair, aged about 30 to 40 years, wearing a coat with a hood and jeans.

PC Eugene Hermon said: “We have not yet established any motive but this an isolated incident for the area. If anyone has any information that would help our enquiry, please contact us via 101 quoting serial 0029 of 10/07. You can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.”
