A COUPLE from Chichester has celebrated 60 happy years together, and a new addition to the family made the celebrations even sweeter.
Tony Porter, 85, and his wife June, 81, welcomed their first great-grandson Finley into the world five weeks ago.
“I’m thrilled to bits,” said June, about the new arrival.
Finley is the newest member of the male-dominated Porter brood.
The couple have two sons, Nigel and Paul, and three grandsons, Christopher, Matthew and Simon.
But it all started when Tony and June met at a dance in Littlehampton 64 years ago.
They were married in Rustington Parish Church on September 12, 1953, and as they say the rest was history.
“We have had a very happy marriage,” said June. “It’s all about give and take.”
The couple celebrated their diamond wedding with a party organised by one of their daughter-in-laws on Saturday.
“She did me proud,” said June. “It all went very well.”
The pair have lived in their home in Stockbridge Gardens, Chichester, for 58 years.
“We’ve been very happy here,” said June.
Something which is clearly important to the couple is family.
“We have got a lovely family,” said June. “We’ve been very lucky.”
