QUIZ champions have celebrated their triumphs at Donnington Care Home.
Residents at Donnington House Care Home near Chichester were the proud winners of this year’s big quiz.
More than 20 of the care homes in the area take part in the quiz – which has now become a firm tradition.
The event is organised by Sharon Martin, who runs her own business called Activities with Sharon. She has been holding the quiz for the past 15 years.
“I love doing it,” said Sharon.
“Once a year all the care homes get really competitive.
“I did it on a scoreboard this year.
“It’s really nice because all the residents work together and no staff are allowed!
“They were really delighted to win,” she said.
Sussex Grange came second in the competition and Summerfields Care in Selsey came a close third.
Sharon visited Donnington House to award the trophy to the residents.
“They have a trophy which has a big question mark on it.”
“They get a certificate to keep. But when the next quiz comes around, they are disappointed when I have to take the trophy back!”
Sharon has been working hard to make the quiz enjoyable for residents.
“We have some general knowledge questions to warm up,” said Sharon.
“They have a classical music round which they really enjoy.”
Sharon said she also does a picture round where residents are shown an image and have to guess which country goes with it. Residents also answered questions on books and authors.
Donnington House Care Home has a weekly programme of activities including reminiscence, pilates, poetry and music.
