CHILDREN from Prebendal School in Chichester became cupcake designers for the day, helping the team at Maison Blanc with their innovative cake creations.
Winners Ellie Brett, 10, and Christian Pethick, 13, wowed the chief patissier with their delicious designs.
Jeni McGovern, head of art, design and technology at The Prebendal School, said: “The children were invited by Maison Blanc’s PR company in London to design a variety of cupcakes with new flavours and a modern twist from a child’s perspective.
“The product development team at Maison Blanc were said to be blown away by the cupcakes’ which were very on trend.
“It was really interesting to see how the chief patissier was so delighted with the combinations.”
Pupils from Years five and eight took part in the food technology project and 18 semi-finalists were chosen, who were then whittled down to two winners.
Ellie’s winning cupcakes were Victoria sponge with jam, raspberry butter and pink sugar flowers while Christian’s cupcakes were made up of plain sponge, lemon curd with lavender butter icing and lavender sugar petals.
The winners had their cakes baked specially for them.
