Backstage visit thrills pupils

Pupils from Singleton and West Dean primary schools had a memorable experience visiting Chichester Festival Theatre as part of a ten-week playwriting project.

The children had a backstage tour and attended a special workshop on stage with actors from the company of Much Ado About Nothing, before watching a matinée performance of the play.

The project was run by the theatre for pupils in years five and six.

One pupil said: “Amazing – I didn’t realise what went on backstage.”

The scene with Edward Bennett as Benedick hiding in a Christmas tree proved a particular hit.
