CHILDREN at Welcome House Day Nursery in Chichester had an Easter surprise when six chicks hatched at the nursery.

The nursery staff were teaching children about life cycles, and looked after the eggs until they hatched.

“We have them each year to hatch around Easter time,” said a nursery school staff member.

“Then after two weeks the chicks go to a farm in North Mundham and the children go and visit them.”

She said the children were excited when the chicks hatched.

“Some of them could sit there watching them all day,” she said.
