CHICHESTER Free School has announced the appointment of its first head teacher.
Guy Martyn will join the new school from Bristol Grammar School, where he is currently deputy head teacher.
“I’m very excited to be a part of making history in the surrounds of Chichester and relish this challenge,” said Mr Martyn.
“I firmly believe that outstanding opportunity should be available for all.
“My focus will be on creating a safe, caring and exciting culture at school where mastery of the fundamental skills of English, maths and learning will lead every student to work creatively towards their own success. Co-curricular opportunities will enable students to discover the purpose of learning, and how good doing all these things actually is for them.”
Mr Martyn will take on the role in April 2013.
Founders have said the focus for the school will be to deliver ‘a broad and balanced curriculum to an excellent standard’, alongside challenging co-curricular opportunities in a ‘nurturing and supportive environment’, to ensure pupils are given the best opportunities.
