IT was the college that brought us talented musician Tom Odell, and now Seaford College is inspiring young businesswomen.
A host of ‘Modern Muses’ went to Seaford on January 29 to encourage female students to look at the different opportunities available to them in the world of work.
And in preparation for the event, Helen Pattinson, founder of Birdham-based chocolate company Montezuma’s, was interviewed by Year 13 students Tara Jackson and Luciana Macari.
Helen said: “The interview was really fun, very different and really hard to answer questions in so few words.
“Tara and Luciana got the best out of me, I’m used to giving long answers to journalist, I should learn to be quiet after a few words in the future.”
Tara said: “From the interview with Helen, I learnt more about the company and Helen’s personality.
“It went very well and allowed me to find out interesting facts about Helen, such as her travels all over South America, in order to find the right chocolate.”
Luciana added: “The interview with Helen was a great new learning curve for me.
“It was something I had never done before so at first I was rather nervous, but once on the phone to Helen she put me at great ease and was so lovely to talk to.
“The reason I wanted to get involved with ‘everywoman’ in the first place was because it intrigued me how few women were in business and how more women should be recognised and given the opportunity to work in a business or, like Helen, have their own.
“I am very much looking forward seeing what exciting opportunities the future holds for women in the workplace.”
