AN ANIMAL centre has received a much-needed cash boost from Sidlesham Primary School.

After selling some cakes, pupils raised more than £100 for the Old Gardens Animal Rescue Centre at Highleigh Road, Sidlesham.

Around 30 pupils visited the centre to see how it cares for the chickens, pigs, goats, turkeys and other animals.

Other independent donations brought the total to £240.

Manager Irene Clarke thanked the school for its donation.

She said: “The children saw some chicks being born. They were literally coming out of their shells when the children arrived.”

The centre has recently received more chickens to look after. If you can donate any money contact 07530 613212.
