CHILDREN at West Wittering school got messy last week when a chef hosted pizza-making classes at the school.
The Year 2 students learnt about different herbs, toppings and how to make a pizza base from scratch.
They then put all the learning into practice and each made their very own pizza, with their favourite toppings.
The day, which was organised by taste! food festival and Ham Farm Kitchens, was part of the Bake-Off project which aims to help children understand more about local food.
Local ingredients were used in the pizzas, including flour from Weald and Downland and a homemade sauce from Ham Farm Kitchens.
“We are keen to show children that cooking is fun and interesting to do and
this medium also gives
them an opportunity to learn about community issues,” said Amanda Duquenoy,
one of the organisers of taste! festival.
