A COLLAPSING wall posing a ‘danger’ to the public will be removed.
Havant Borough Council announced an Emsworth footpath would be closed while the work was carried out.
“The path, close to the railway bridge in North Street, will be closed whilst the dangerous wall is taken down,” said a council spokeswoman. “It will be reopened as quickly as possible once the danger has been removed, this may take a few weeks. The path will also be closed when a new wall is built.”
She said there was no footpath on the other side of the road, so pedestrians would be asked to follow a diversion.
The retaining wall has no recorded owner, while the retained land is owned by many different parties.
