Emsworth to host special St. George’s Day celebration

Emsworth will host a special celebration for St. George’s Day next Thursday (April 23).

The day will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two, as well as the re-formation of 170 (Imjin) Battery Royal Artillery based on Thorney Island.

The parade will start at 10.30am with Veterans from various conflicts going back more than 60 years marching with 12 Regiment Royal Artillery and military band of the Royal Artillery through Emsworth.

Children will also accompany the parade from Thorney Island Primary School and Emsworth Primary.

It will culminate in St Peters’ Square in front of the Mayor of Havant, Cllr Marjorie Smallcorn and the Commanding Officer of 12 Regiment Royal Artillery.

Entertainment will include the George Regis Jazz Band and there will be a street collection on behalf of local branches of SSAFA.
