AROUND 100 young people were shown how to play beach soccer by England’s team as part of Chichester District Council’s summer of sport.
Boys and girls aged six to 15 received coaching from players and coaches of the women’s England national beach soccer team on West Wittering beach.
Daniel Gladwin, 12, from Chichester, said: “I’ve played football on the beach before but not like this, as part of a club.
“It’s really fun. My favourite bit is the battle, where we try to get to the ball first and score.”
The event was organised by the council, the University of Chichester and the national body for the sport England Beach Soccer.
Cllr Eileen Lintill said: “It was great for the young people to meet the players and coaches of the England team.
“They took part in training drills and exercises with the children, and then played full five-aside games of beach soccer, using regulation size pitches and goals.”
