For many it was a thoroughly enjoyable day out in the sun, but for some the family fun day at Bracklesham Park was more than just a celebration – it was a dream come true.
The aim was to bring the community together and to see the new Bracklesham Barn community centre at the park, at the end of Beech Avenue.
Funds raised from the fun day, which are still being totted up, will also go towards helping new groups which run classes and activities at the new centre.
For those who have spent years trying to secure a community centre, it was a realisation of their vision.
Michael Pettitt, of Bracklesham Bay Community Association, said: “Bracklesham Barn is a splendid building.
“We had a tremendous amount of help from locals, companies and shops.
“It pulled the community together and everybody enjoyed themselves.
“That was the original dream.”
As well as lots of activities and demonstrations there were refreshments and a tug-of-war competition.
The newly-founded Bracklesham Football Club were beaten by a local team put together called ‘The Bracklesham Boys’.
