IS IT a bird? Is it a plane? Actually, you were right the first time...

Last Saturday (February 4) bird-spotting skills were put to the test for the Garden Bird Watch at Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve.

Binoculars were out in force for the event, which encourages visitors to have a go at picking out some little feathered creatures from the sky.

Visitor services warden Katherine Eels said: “The people who came along said they really enjoyed it, and because of the help from some volunteers people were able to use optical equipment. They were able to spot common garden birds and see them up close in all their glory and colour, which was fantastic.

“The reason the event was held was to switch people on to what birds they could find in their garden.”
