Festival of Chichester launched today

The very first festival of Chichester was launched today with music and colourful costumes in the city centre.

Bosham’s Jazz Smugglers played in North Street to get Chichester in the festival spirit, and members of Chichester Festival Youth Theatre were out and about in animal costumes distributing the newly-printed festival brochure detailing the events the festival has got lined up this summer.

The new Festival of Chichester, which is intended as a celebration of the city’s fine talents, will be a remarkable month-long arts and community extravaganza, says festival chairman and Observer series arts editor Phil Hewitt.
