FINDON gelding Royal Wedding delighted onlookers by winning at Fontwell Park yesterday (Friday, April 29).
The horse won the Crabbie’s Chase at the Royal Wedding Race Night.
Royal Wedding was purchased by horse trainer Nick Gifford six years ago and is housed at Downs Stables in Stable Lane, Findon.
Nick said: “We nicknamed him Charlie, because he came to us when Prince Charles married Camilla.
“I was approached by Fontwell a couple of months ago to race at their royal wedding event, because of the obvious name connection – but I said it would only happen if the date coincided with Charlie’s schedule.”
It is believed the win will cost bookies millions of pounds with thousands of people betting on Royal Wedding to win last week.
