A house fire forced the closure of a Havant road today.

Barton’s Road was blocked off between the junctions with Wakeford’s Way and Eastleigh Road as firefighteres tackled the blaze in an empty building.

Four appliances and the specialist overhead ladder were called to the scene at 3.47am. Around 25 firefighters from Havant, Emsworth, Cosham and Southsea were involved in tackling the fire.

Just before 7am, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the blaze had been brought under control.
