HORSES were led to safety by fire crews after a barn fire in Almodington.

Fire crews from East Wittering, Chichester and Selsey were called to the barn in Almodington Lane at 10.07pm last night (November 26).

The open-sided barn containing five tonnes of baled hay was alight.

Nearby horses were moved away from the fire by firefighters.

The fire was left to burn overnight and has been handed back to the owner this morning.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was started deliberately.
