MOST people retire at 60, but Nancy Elderton was still keen to work and she has made it her mission to keep Central Junior School clean for the past 24 years.

The 85-year-old, who lives in Parklands, has been a familiar face at the school since she started there in January 1987.

But she was forced to call it a day after having a fall in West Street in February, followed by heart failure when she was taken to hospital where she stayed for four months.

But she was well enough to attend a tea party in her honour at the school.
