THE start of 2015 was extra special for four delighted parents in the Observer area who had their babies born on New Year’s Day.

The first new arrival at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester on January 1 belonged to Selsey mum and dad Michelle Rands and Michael Ogbuokiri, when their son Chino arrived at 10.08am.

Chichester couple Vanessa and Stephen Finch were the next to give birth when they welcomed Amy Zoe Finch into the world at 3.04pm, weighing 8lb 5oz.

There was a longer wait for two other couples who gave birth within minutes of each other and only just before midnight.

Ecstatic couple Maudie and James Robbie became parents for the first time when Elsa Eve Robbie was born at 11.25pm, weighing 7lb, 9oz.

Wisborough Green couple Beady and Simon Butcher-Collier then celebrated the birth of their fourth child when Seth was also born at 11.28pm, weighing 8lb 12oz.

Full details, reaction from the delighted parents and pictures of all the New Year’s Day babies will appear in next week’s paper, out on Thursday, January 8.
