STAFF at Chichester’s Santander branch decided to give something back to the community recently.

While the North Street bank was being refurbished, the staff decided they should do something for charity.

On October 23, 15 members of staff went to a different kind of bank – Chichester’s Foodbank.

The team spent the day sorting, dating and packing the food.

“We had an email after saying it was four weeks work done in a day,” said branch manager Louise Chambers.

“We wanted to take the opportunity to give something back to the community, so we were really pleased we could do that.”

The foodbank is run from Chichester Family Church in Orchard Street, and was set up last year to respond to the growing need for support.

All the food is donated, and residents in need can obtain vouchers from care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, CAB and police.

The group also launched a second foodbank at Selsey Methodist Church on Friday.
