It will be held on Sunday at 10am at Whiteways Lodge car park on the A29 at Bury Hill.

The walk was originally held last year as a one off event in memory of Ian Hopkins, who sadly passed away at St Wilfrid’s in December 2015. However, the event proved so positive that the organisers were asked to make it an annual occurance. A £5 minimum donation is asked for from all walkers. There is also a shorter five mile route at 11am and a 2.5 mile trail suitable for pushchairs starting at 11.30am. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cakes will be available on return.

There will be no check points en route, so it is recommended that participants bring a rucksack to carry snacks and plenty of drinking water.

If there is any doubt about a participant’s fitness, it is suggested that they should take part in the shorter walk. Walking boots or supportive hiking trainers are also recommended, and the organisers suggest that participants pack waterproofs if the weather doesn’t look promising.
