Funtington haystack fire still raging 24-hours after being started

A huge fire at a farm in Funtington is still '˜well alight' more than 24-hours after being deliberately started.

Firefighters have been on the scene at New Barn Farm overnight as around 100 tonnes of hay is allowed to burn out safely.

Police have said it was started by arson between 4.30am and 6am yesterday morning, Thursday, March 9.

The fire is next to a large pig farm but there are no reports of any animals or people being injured.

A spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue service said one crew remained on the scene but was unsure how long the fire was likely to last.
