BIGGER and better – that was the verdict on Bracklesham Community Fun Day, hosted by the Bracklesham Bay Community Association (BBCA) on Saturday (July 6).
An estimated 1,500 people were there, enjoying the glorious sunshine. Chairman of the parish council Sylvia Main opened the event at 11am.
Events in the main arena included the Wonder Girls, Chichester Army Cadets, SJ Dance Academy and Jenn Lee Belly Dancing, together with a flyball demonstration from Mad About Dogs. The audience took part in a display of zumba from Fit Joy and the arena was filled with musket fire and smoke as The Sealed Knot re-enactment group.
Firefighters successfully retained the tug-o-war trophy.
Cream teas and cake were on offer inside the barn, with a chance to listen to music from Tom Baird of Chichester Music Academy, The Penny Black choir and John Priddy on the organ.
A raffle at 4pm concluded the days events but only after the fire brigade invited spectators into the arena for a game of British Bulldog with a twist, where everyone got a good soaking.
Organisers thanked all the sponsors who helped to make the day a success. Anyone who would like to help in next year’s fun day, or who wish to join the BBCA, can contact George Thomas on 01243 673099.
