WEST Dean Gardens will feature in an episode of a new 15-part BBC gardening series called Glorious Gardens from Above.

TV presenter and gardening expert Christine Walkden will take to the skies in a hot air balloon to visit some of the UK gardens that inspired her career.

The series is due to begin in the second week of November and will be broadcast daily on weekdays for three weeks.

West Dean Gardens will appear on November 14. The programme will begin at 3.15pm.

Christine said: “I love visiting West Dean as the standard of horticulture displayed is of the highest level and a joy to see.

“Over the many years I have visited these gardens I always come away wondering how the staff achieve such excellence.

“The gardens are a great credit to all of the staff, and are an absolute pleasure to see and experience.”

The programme will also feature an interview with garden volunteers Jack Griffin and Laura Hughes who met at West Dean Gardens and are now engaged.

A bespoke ‘tribute’ made for them by West Dean College Metalwork tutor Jon Privett, will also be featured.
