AN epic 970-mile cycle has been completed by Chichester man Gavin Hill, who journeyed from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
Gavin took on the challenge to raise money for Canine Partners, which trains dogs to assist people with disabilities.
Gavin’s wife Jo is a wheelchair user and has a Canine Partner called Derby.
“It was an extraordinary event – really hard work but worth doing to raise awareness and money for Canine Partners,” said Gavin.
“An even bigger part of this was that I would never have been able to go away and compete if it wasn’t for Derby.
“Jo stayed at home with Derby; she had Derby to help and support her and we all worried about her far less. People have been very generous in supporting me.”
Gavin set off on September 6, returning on September 14, after averaging 17mph on four hours’ sleep each night.
“People have been very generous in supporting me and I encourage the local community to join us for a fun evening at Crack Up the Downs.” said Gavin.
The fundriasing comedy evening will take place tomorrow in Windlesham House School, Washington.
