PUPILS and staff welcomed friends of West Wittering Primary School on Thursday, to officially open their new outdoor classroom.
The Bow is an outdoor classroom so the pupils in Year 1 have a space to play and learn outside – even when it’s raining.
Headteacher Susan O’Boyle thanked everyone involved in the project.
“There have been some key people keeping us going with this project.
“Since I arrived at the school I’ve been saying I wanted an outdoor classroom for the children.
“We received a very generous donation from West Wittering Estate so I just wanted to say thank you for your support.”
Mrs O’Boyle also thanked the builders, architects and parents who made the project possible.
Marcus Irwin-Brown, managing director of West Wittering Estate, said: “We are very pleased to be able to support the school – especially as it is right on our doorstep.
“I think it is something the school has needed for a while.”
Tilly Jeffers, a Year 1 pupil at the school, said she ‘really enjoyed playing in the new classroom’.
Guests praised the design of the timber classroom, which fits in with the style of the village.
