RESIDENTS can take part in a national competition to help injured firefighters by doing a post Christmas clear-out.

The Fire Fighters Charity, which supports injured firefighters and their families during their time of need by running rehabilitation centres, is holding a national competition to see which fire stations can collect the most unwanted clothing, shoes and textiles during January.

For every tonne of textiles gathered at the stations, The Fire Fighters Charity will receive £220.

The special big yellow recycling bags can be found at fire stations around the country including Selsey, Bognor and Midhurst.
